Wildwood Garden Welcomes Spring
Spring is in the air in the Blue Mountains, and the flora and fauna are responding to the warmer weather. Birdsong in the trees, the hum of bees and colourful blossoms abound.
With this transformation and awakening from hibernation, many splendid cold-climate gardens are preparing to open their doors visitors.
At the lodge we are spoilt to be surrounded by a plethora of sensational cold-climate gardens. Only a 5 minute drive from Bilpin Springs Lodge, Wildwood is among the collection of delightful gardens opening this season.
From August 2nd 2015, Wildwood Garden will throw open the gates to visitors for the Spring garden season until November 2nd.
Flocking from near and far visitors can enjoy basking in the sun in their own little pocket of paradise. The cafe is available for meals, and a gift shop provides an opportunity to fill the gift bag for those back home.
With over 600 varieties of Camellia in the expansive gardens at Wildwood Garden, Sue and Wayne Tapping know a thing or two about this popular flowering plant.
Spending over 30 years nurturing this spectacular cold-climate garden, the Tapping’s share their knowledge and passion with guests and offer advice on which potted camellia from the extensive nursery may be best for your garden at home.
Having transformed a patch of scrubby wilderness into sprawling gardens, Sue and Wayne have taken inspiration from visits to places around Australia such as the Dandenongs and have kept a focus on blending the beauty of the Australian bushland with the order of formal gardens. They have amassed a collection of cool climate trees including maples and dogwoods, and decorate the forest floor with a range of perennials and shrubs like hellebores, clivias and hydrangeas.
With so many amazing sights and attractions within a stone's throw at the lodge, it is amazing how many relaxing and inspiring things you will get to do on your getaway.
